For nearly four years, the streets have been riddled with the stench of death. A city that used to be to be so full of life has been stained with a horrific plague. As I look outside my window, this dark part of history seems to be coming to a close. The streets that were once filled with death have a glimpse of hope that I haven’t seen for what feels like ages. History would go on to call it the Bubonic or Black Plague. But I know it as the thing that tore apart life as I once knew it.
