The Victoria Falls lie on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. One of the seven natural wonders of the world, and the largest single sheet of falling water on the planet. Known by the local Lozi people as "Mosi-oa-Tunya", which translates to "The Smoke That Thunders". This is where I live with my wife and 2 kids. Along the banks of the Zambezi River, just before the river plummets over the mile-wide cliff edge into the Batoka Gorge, and in the shadow of the thundering spray of the falls is the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. It is in this park, and the surrounding areas that large herds of elephants roam free, and Zambia's last remaining White Rhino try to live out their existence in peace. With an abundance of wildlife, the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is one of nature's hidden gems. But there is conflict. Due to poor planning, human settlements sit side-by-side with the untamed bush and when the two encounter each other in close proximity, it is never pretty. Crops get raided, fireworks and loud bangers are used to chase off animals, and occasionally someone is killed by a scared animal, usually an elephant. 50% of all proceeds will go to the Conservation And Tourism Society (CATS) right here in Livingstone, Zambia. CATS was founded by my good friend Alec Cole and is involved in human/animal conflict mitigation, community education in conservation, and anti-poaching in and around the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. They do fantastic work in providing education in how to correctly deal with the wildlife on their doorsteps. They also implement revenue raising initiatives that also combine with conflict mitigation techniques such as chilli growing (chilli fences keep elephants away), bee keeping (elephants hate bees). These techniques provide income through the sale of excess chillies and honey as well as peacefully deter raiding elephants without stressing the animals out which makes them more dangerous. This is the 1st in a very small collection of the beautiful wildlife we have on our doorstep. Created digitally in mixed media, each piece took around 8 hours to create. Created at 7500 x 5000 pixels, 300 DPI, these can be printed at over 2 feet in width. As things currently stand, there are no prints of these pieces and all of the original files, along with source files, and any drafts have been permanently deleted. Once each NFT is minted, the remaining file is also deleted with only low-res thumbnails remaining for marketing purposes. First purchasers will be buying a one-of-a-kind 1/1 NFT where no other copies exist anywhere in the world.
