American crocodiles face a few different environmental concerns, one being the rapid development of the coastal regions, which has faced problems for the species. In Florida, the American Crocodile is in recovery, but conservation efforts are still quite futile in the success of the species. This native species is now classified as threatened by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
