On the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the day of Eid > Pilgrims will sacrifice an animal (hady). It is a means of expressing gratitude for having been granted the ability to undertake Hajj and Umrah in the same journey.
Hady is carried out in remembrance of the prophet Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) willingness to sacrifice his son (peace be upon him) at Allah’s command. As he was preparing sacrifice his son, a sacrificial animal was provided as a substitute at the last moment.
