It was right here. Here at this very spot all those years ago, when I meet her. Boy, I remember it like it was yesterday. The day before Christmas I was out looking for loose ends to make the holiday just a bit more special. Then this wonderful flower garden caught my eye. During this time of year, it was strange to see flowers blooming so colorfully so, I went to check it out. And that’s when I first laid eyes on her. She was explaining to a group of people the exact question I had asked, how flowers were able to bloom during this time of year. Though I was listening to her answer, I was too caught up in her beauty. I began to tell myself think of something, anything to just get her attention. The best thing I could come up with was half-baked at best. “What about this one over here” I yelled. That caused her to take concern and come over to me and ask “Which one?” While trying to pick my jaw off the floor I fumbled over my words which made her laugh. That laugh and that smile is something I would spend the next 40 years falling in love with over and over again. We built a house, started a family, and spent all of our free time in the garden. Right here all that time ago. It feels different not having you here. Not being able to see that smile I so wholeheartedly adored. What I wouldn’t give to see you smiling over our garden full of flowers one last time.
